We are setting up a local Maths networking hub aimed at Heads of Department and Leaders within School Maths Departments. This event is an opportunity to meet and discuss strategies, share good practice and network with other local colleagues with a focus on improving the progress of all our students.
These “TeachMeet” style events will provide a place where local maths teachers, or anyone involved in maths teaching, can meet, exchange ideas and provide peer support as well as accessing information and support.

Supported by the Further Maths Support Programme, who will provide speakers on various themes that the group identify as being of interest.
In the first instance, we are looking to gauge interest in this initiative. If you would like to be involved or have ideas of items you think might be of appeal to this kind of group then, please contact me. I’d be happy to discuss it further with you.

With very best wishes

   Maths Mastery Hubs

Many of the schools within our Trust have made a long term investment in the development of colleagues to deliver a mastery approach to teaching mathematics. The aim is to equip teachers to improve pupils’ enjoyment, resilience, understanding and progress in maths.

Singapore and Shanghai are two of the highest international performers in mathematics education. They have a consistent, tried and tested approach to mathematics teaching which has inspired the programme.

The programmes used have been developed by www.mathematicsmastery.org

In primary, the programme begins in Year 1 and each subsequent year, the programme rolls up into the following year group.

In secondary, the programme begins in Year 7 and enables you to build a solid foundation of conceptual understanding through Key Stage 3, ready for GCSE and beyond.

Joining a Mathematics Mastery Hub is the start of a long-term investment in professional development for you and your entire mathematics team.

By working together we offer professional discussions about the implementation and development of the programme. Schools work in partnership to provide ongoing, maths-focused training, high-quality resources and support.
