Welcome to the Maths Department

Curriculum across KS4

The curriculum students follow in KS4 is broken down into different units. The scheme of learning is designed to recap prior understanding and flow into new concepts and their applications. The intent is that students will build their confidence throughout KS4 and they will feel fully prepared for their GCSE examination at the end of Year 11.

Homework

Homework is set by the student’s class teacher on Hegarty Maths. The student’s log in with their first name, last name, and date birth. Student’s will have set their own password. If they forget their password, they can click a reset button to send a notification to their teacher who will reset it for them. Other useful features of Hegarty includes ‘Fix up 5’ and ‘Memri’. ‘Fix up 5’ is a great revision tool where students receive a short 5 question quiz on topic’s students have not achieved 100% on. These topics are randomly generated and change over time. ‘Memri’ is a feature designed to aid student’s retrieval practice of their maths knowledge. These can both be used to help with student’s revision.

Once an assessment has been completed and marked, students will receive a personalised Hegarty Grid that will show a breakdown of the assessment they have completed. The grid provides the codes for the videos on Hegarty for the students to work on, as a next step.
